Packing Heat
If you’re trying to reduce heating costs, or heaven forbid, your heater breaks, you may wish that you had something warm on hand to keep close to your body. A heated pack is the next best thing to having your entire space heated. Keeping heat right on your body makes you impervious to the cold air around you.

You can make your own heat pack with the right ingredients (that you most likely have around the house), but remember to be very, very cautious. Here’s a fun science experiment in exothermic chemical reactions. Put water and calcium chloride inside two plastic bags that are different sizes. Then, place the smaller bag inside the larger one, and it will begin warming you up!
