Kate Middleton is a fashion icon in her own right, but being the Princess of Wales comes with a ton of rules about what she can and cannot wear. One of the big rules of royal fashion is that royal women cannot show any hint of cleavage whatsoever. The Royal Family doesn’t want to paint a “sex symbol” image, so modesty is key.

Royal women are also required to wear pantyhose with every leg-baring outfit. You will never, ever see Kate rocking a bare-leg look! Nude or black tights are always required to create a refined, elegant look of perfection. Also, it adds an extra layer of security when it comes to seated photo-ops and candid paparazzi shots.
