Queen of Dolphins

The Crown has a vast amount of valuable assets under its belt. Most of us think of rare jewels and castles, but some of the other things the Crown claims ownership to may surprise you. As of the year 1324, the Crown officially owns all the dolphins in British waters.

The centuries-old acquisition was started to protect dolphins from poachers. That means Queen Elizabeth II was responsible for their protection during her reign! The responsibility has now been passed on to King Charles II. Also, this ownership is officially part of UK law. If a dolphin is captured or stranded within three miles of the UK coast, the king or queen can lay claim to them.
