#13: A Hoosier Cabinet
Here’s something you just don’t find in a kitchen anymore. This beautiful piece of furniture is called a Hoosier cabinet. A Hoosier cabinet is a free-standing cupboard that also acts as a workstation for the kitchen. These cabinets were extremely popular from the 1890s to the 1930s because most homes didn’t have built-in kitchen cabinets.

Hoosier cabinets solved that problem, providing storage space and a clean, smooth working surface for baking, cooking, and prepping food. This particular cabinet has an old-fashioned coffee grinder, space for spices in the middle, and bins for flour and sugar. We might not have a use for Hoosier cabinets anymore, but they sure are neat.
