Reactions to the “Chest Burster Scene” in Alien, 1979

When it comes to film and television, everything is so well crafted these days that it can be difficult to understand when something is real and when something is fake. But back in the day, even though it was still impressive for its time, the cinematography wasn’t nearly as advanced as it is today. However, that didn’t stop people from feeling affected by things they saw on the silver screen.

This tester audience reviewed the gruesome and out-of-this-world film, Alien. This screen grab was taken after watching the “chest-burster scene” when an alien literally bursts out of several actors’ chests. Even though it was 1979 and cinema wasn’t anything like it is today, you can probably tell that the focus group was slightly shocked by what they saw…
