This vintage circus photo is absolutely delightful. These four girls worked as performers for Hanneford’s Canadian Circus when this photo was taken in 1910. Hanneford’s Circus was a family troupe that traveled throughout Canada and Europe when they officially formed in 1903. These girls might be members of the Hanneford family. 

The Hanneford family has centuries of performing experience, with family roots tracing all the way back to the late 17th century. You can see the level of showmanship and professionalism in this photo. The handpainted signs in the background and the girls’ costumes are so nostalgic of the turn of the century. This slice of life speaks to a time that is gone but not forgotten.
