All in the Family

Circus performers spend a lot of time together and away from home. Back before cell phones and FaceTime, it was hard to spend months and years on the road away from family and friends. The Wallenda family found a workaround for that problem. They decided to take the whole family on the road and create a unique acrobatic act!

This vintage photo of “The Flying Wallendas” shows members of the Wallenda family perfecting their tightrope routine. The two kids in the photo are quite young. The Wallendas were an old circus family, so performing probably came naturally to them. Imagine walking a tightrope with your impatient toddler on your shoulders. We sure can’t do that!
