Chrissie Hynde and Jim Kerr, 1984
Endlessly innovative Chrissie Hynde was the lead singer of The Pretenders, showing women everywhere that rock music could be theirs to covet too. While on tour in Australia she met Jim Kerr, a musician from the band Simple Minds, who were trying to find their breakthrough in America. The rock duo married in 1984 and shortly after, 1985, their daughter was born.

Kerr’s band eventually made their breakthrough in America with the song “Don’t You Forget About Me” thanks to its use in one of the most memorable films in recent history, The Breakfast Club. The couple looked dashing on their wedding day, both wearing white suits, but as happy as they were back then, the dynamic rock duo split in 1990.
