Marianne Faithfull and Ben Brierly, 1979

If you were a teenager in the 60s and 70s, odds are you remember Marianne Faithfull. She became known during that time for her highly publicized relationship with Mick Jagger during the height of his stardom. She was a part of the British Invasion, a movement of rock and roll musicians from England that became incredibly popular in the U.S. following the success of The Beatles.

While Faithfull’s career did simmer down towards the late 70’s, her popularity experienced a strong resurgence around the time when she got married to Ben Brierly in 1979 (we’re still not sure if the events were related). The two divorced in 1986, however, and the singer was married once again after this marriage ended.
