Dorothy Hamill shot to fame like a bullet from a gun in 1976, when she became America’s sweetheart after she won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. If that wasn’t enough, her award-winning smile captured the attention of actor and singer Dean Paul Martin. The two were married shortly after meeting each other, in 1982.

Tensions began to rise in this too good to be true union and the couple started going to therapy to mend their differences. It seems like Martin didn’t have much to offer in terms of being a provider and Hamill who suffered from childhood trauma and depression did not find solace in her husband’s arms. Martin decided to pull the plug within 2 years of marriage. The couple had no children between them.
