Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd, 1979
Eric Clapton credits some of his most heartfelt and iconic love songs to his wife Pattie Boyd. When he first met Pattie Boyd, the model was married to his friend George Harrison, guitarist for The Beatles. For years he admired her from afar, eventually composing iconic songs such as “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight” about the famed model.

The pair wed in 1979 and began a life of blissful love. However, they soon faced the real-life problem of infidelity and countless failed fertility attempts. Sadly, the two A-listers couldn’t bridge their differences and ended up divorcing in 1987, citing Clapton’s affairs and substance abuse as the cause of the split. The pair had no children together.
