#43: It’s Your Fault For Aging…

Whether people talk about it or not, there is always the dark cloud hanging above people’s heads that, one day, their partner isn’t going to find them attractive anymore. And whilst this might be a shared fear among many different people, it is assumed that it isn’t people’s own fault for aging, considering it is something natural that occurs.

Well, it doesn’t seem like people were as understanding in the 1940s when it came to naturally aging… According to this ad, if you let yourself go, and began having “middle-aged” skin, then if your husband wanted to leave you, it was his prerogative. This messaging might still exist today, but at least it isn’t so blatant.
