When you fall in love with the person you plan to marry, it’s essential to choose them for the right reasons. It’s also important, to some extent, that your parents approve of your future spouse. However, some parents have unrealistic expectations and will never accept who you marry unless they can choose that person for you.

No matter how your parents feel about your spouse, they should respect your choice and keep their offensive opinions to themselves. Even if they need to express how they feel towards your spouse, there’s a time and a place for everything. One mother-in-law crossed the line by discussing her disproval of who her son married during his spouse giving birth. Definitely not the time nor the place!
