The world of rental properties, especially in New York City, can indeed feel like a dark underbelly of city living. Spaces are tinier than most people can imagine, the cost of rent is astronomical, and the competition for these minuscule, ridiculously expensive flats is cutthroat. So, it’s important to know whom you are dealing with through all this.

A rental agreement is a contract between two people, so how could this landlord avoid giving out his name to his tenant? Perhaps the larger question is, why would he hide his identity? We doubt he was some sort of superhero who needed to keep his true identity a secret, so we can only presume he was up to no good.
