#4: Who’s The Cookie Monster?

On the surface, it looks like this landlord is pretty comfortable with his tenant. Maybe too comfortable. He helps himself to their food and then jokes about it after in a text message. If they had a friendly and familiar relationship, this might actually be a funny, harmless text. However, we get the feeling that they do not have that kind of relationship.

It’s pretty creepy for this landlord to help himself to a treat and then make a silly joke about it to his tenant. It definitely assumes a familiarity that this tenant does not like. The worst part is that he has some power over his tenant; it would be pretty hard for the tenant to tell this landlord off over cookies. Perhaps it’s time to start locking up the cookies. Or looking for a new place.
