#10: Lawyer Up

Landlords are hard enough to deal with, but rental companies can also be pretty low-down and dirty. In addition, they are intimidating since they have the might of “a company” behind them; they have the power to bully their renters and probably get away with it most often than not.

It was a dirty move to charge a tenant nearly one thousand dollars for moving out less than 30 minutes late. It was clearly completely arbitrary, as proven when the tenant threatened them with his lawyer. They knew they had no legal standing; the rental company was just pushing its luck to see what they could get away with. Good for this renter for pushing back!
