Guerilla Marketing
This storyteller lived in the same neighborhood as a local dentist. Sadly, this dentist’s house was the least popular spot in the whole neighborhood. Why? Well, he gave out pencils with his office number on them instead of candy. It makes sense. All of us adults out there know that any self-respecting dentist can’t give out candy on Halloween.

Where adults see an ingenious guerrilla marketing scheme, kids see an evil neighborhood villain. Getting a pencil for Halloween is just as bad as getting, say, a spoonful of dirt. Our storyteller explained that they unashamedly tossed one of the dentist’s pencils on the roof one year in a fit of rage. That’ll show them!
