A Treat in Retrospect
Let’s be honest. Most kids aren’t mature enough to appreciate thoughtful gifts. During Halloween, the only thing kids care about is candy. They’re so obsessed with getting as much candy as possible that they completely ignore other, more thoughtful treats given out in their neighborhood. This person received a special, handmade gift from one of his neighbors, but he totally dismissed it because he was a candy-crazed little kid.

An older man in the neighborhood spent hours hand-carving wooden horses for the kids in the neighborhood. He gave out these handmade toys instead of candy, but most kids were ungrateful. Looking back, our storyteller regrets how unappreciative he was as a kid. That kind old man was too good for those trick-or-treaters!
