#25: A Dangerous Situation

Someone shared an unfortunate situation where good intentions led to disastrous consequences in her personal life. She shared that she was once in an abusive relationship but was secretly arranging a way to get herself out. One day, the police were called to their house by a concerned neighbor. As part of the police protocol, our storyteller and her abusive partner were interviewed in separate rooms. 

Our storyteller confided in the cop who was interviewing her that she didn’t want to press charges. She had the plan to get out and didn’t want her abusive partner to find out. Well, that cop ended up blabbing to the other cop, who told the abusive partner. Wow. She didn’t want to press charges because she knew it would cost her partner his job and would have risked her plan falling through.
