#20: Who Let the Snakes Out?
Trying to cut down the number of cobras in a populated or urban area is definitely a good cause; I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be thrilled about living in a city full of venomous snakes. They can be pretty dangerous! But as we’ve seen in other examples, when prize money is involved, people will always end up taking advantage of it.

That’s what happened in India when people started breeding snakes for the sole purpose of selling them for the bounty; when the prize money was off the table, they were left with all these cobras, and they released them. To this day, the Indian cobra is native to India, and cobra bites are quite common.
