If You Hear Something, Say Something

This person shared a shocking story from one of their friends. One night, he and his friends were walking home from a bar. They were all tipsy and in a good mood, but then they heard a woman’s shriek from somewhere nearby. The friend decided to shout out something about leaving the woman alone, even though they couldn’t see the source of the shriek. He was kind of joking, but as they turned the corner, they realized it was anything but funny. 

They see a young woman crying and running towards them. Turns out, the guy’s decision to say something may have saved her life! She was actually being assaulted when she screamed, and when the assailant heard the friend’s half-joking yell, he got scared and ran off. They all walked with her to make sure she got home safely. This is a good reminder that it’s better to say something than remain silent.
