A Slim Chance

This story is truly incredible. This man shared that he successfully talked someone out of taking their own life. One day he was riding the train when a stranger around his age sat next to him. This stranger revealed that they were going to get off the train and jump off a bridge. Our storyteller remained calm and asked why this stranger was going to go through with such a thing.

The stranger revealed that his parents had just broken up. Coincidently, our storyteller’s parents had just separated, so he began to talk to him about how he was feeling. By the time the stranger got off the train, he seemed a lot more stable, but our storyteller ultimately didn’t know what he decided to do. This stranger was on his mind almost every day, until he ran into him a few weeks later. They were able to catch up, and the stranger shared that he was doing much better. Their paths crossed one more time a few months later, which was super weird because our storyteller lived in a huge city. It’s almost as if the two of them were meant to meet.
