Considering the sheer volume of cartoons Seth MacFarlane has on air and the hefty sums some TV stars rake in from reruns, you’d think MacFarlane’s swimming in cash from royalties, right? Despite Family Guy being the second-longest-running cartoon ever, big residuals for the actors aren’t exactly part of the deal.

Take Family Guy, for example. MacFarlane and his fellow stars pull in about a quarter of a million dollars each year from residuals alone, even though the show is valued at a whopping $2 billion in total. The network seems to pocket most of the dough while the actors settle for their slice of the pie. It’s a tough break for the voice talents behind our favorite animated characters!
