The metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly is a magical process that symbolizes transformation and growth. But what if your best friend was a caterpillar, and he suddenly sprouted wings and became a butterfly? You might be a little miffed, to say the least. “What happened to the good old days, when we used to crawl around in the dirt and munch on leaves?” you’d say.

“Now you’re all high and mighty, fluttering around like you own the place.” Your caterpillar friend might try to explain that he’s still the same on the inside, that his transformation was just a natural part of life, but you’d still feel left behind. But let’s be honest; it’s hard to stay mad at a butterfly – they’re just too darn pretty.
