30. Beware Angry New Yorkers
Well, color me surprised. For some reason, I thought this was a universal rule, but maybe I just spent a little too long in Chicago. It’s a good, sensible rule, don’t you think? It keeps traffic moving for those who want to actually move up or down the escalators without them having to nudge past rudely.

It is basically just taking the rules from driving into walking, something that I think also applies to sidewalks–left lane is for passing and going faster, right lane is for if you’re going a bit slower. See! Perfectly reasonable.
