The Arsenic Look
Arsenic, a highly toxic substance, was believed to have skin-whitening properties and was used as a beauty treatment. The process involved dissolving arsenic in water and then soaking in it for an extended period of time. The arsenic would be absorbed through the skin, leading to a milky white complexion.

Unfortunately, the dangers of arsenic were not yet fully understood at the time, and many women who used this treatment suffered from serious health problems, including organ damage, skin irritation, and even death. Thankfully, we now have a much safer and effective ways to achieve healthy, glowing skin.
