#22: Earth to Cellphone

Whenever a new form of technology comes out, the latest release is always the most cutting-edge thing in the world. It’s hard to imagine how a piece of technology could get even more advanced. That’s exactly what people thought about those old-school cell phones that had giant antennas. We laugh now, but those things were top-of-the-line.

Whether you had a Nokia or some other brand of cell phone, those chunky blocks were the most cutting-edge technology of the day. They were developed to look like mini versions of a typical landline phone. That design choice makes sense because people always like something that feels familiar. If only our past selves could know how slim and streamlined our tech would get in a matter of decades.
