#22: The Growing Tower

Being an architect or civil engineer sounds really complicated. If anything goes wrong with your designs, it can be catastrophic. There are so many things that you have to keep in mind—how different materials will react in different situations, local weather and ground conditions, and more.

For instance, did you know that materials like some metals will expand in the heat and contract in the cold? As you can see from this fact, the expansion can be enough to make a huge amount of difference. It’s a good thing that this expansion apparently doesn’t harm the Eiffel Tower’s structural integrity.
