#41: Times Square Building Under Construction, 1903

Even though it might not exist in the same way anymore, the Times building was a marvel for its time. In 1896, newspaper publisher Adolph Ochs bought ‘The New York Times’ and in 1902, he decided to move the headquarters from Lower Manhattan to Midtown Manhattan as he purchased new land.

Construction of this new building began in 1902 but was only completed in 1904, as it was delayed by 299 days due to worker strikes and unpredictable weather. Today, the building has undergone many changes and is now famously in the middle of Times Square.
