#38: What Not to Do as a Boss
The first rule when it comes to understanding your employees is that they have lives outside of work, and it’s unreasonable to expect them to prioritize their job over everything else. If you want them to be more committed, offer incentives such as bonuses, promotions, or flexible schedules. Show them that you value their hard work and respect their time outside of the office.

But don’t expect them to sacrifice their personal lives for your company’s benefit. That’s not how you build a loyal and dedicated team. Remember, happy employees make for a successful business… But it seems like this employer doesn’t have the first clue as to how to keep his employees happy.
