#32: Prison Break

We often see prison depicted in Hollywood movies and TV, but how much do we really know about prison life? Of course, none of us really knows what goes on behind these walls, which is perhaps what makes all those prison movies so fascinating. Say what you will, but you can’t deny that The Shawshank Redemption is a masterpiece!

Either way, here’s an interesting fact about American prisons: while the U.S. makes us less of the world’s population, it makes up nearly %25 of the world’s prison population. We don’t know if this fact is correct today, but the incarceration rate in the U.S. was the highest in the world in 2013.
