#46: Children Eating Watermelon on the Porch, North Carolina, 1939
If, at first, you thought that these poor, impoverished children were sitting there with dog collars around their necks, then, of course, you are wrong and have a horrible imagination. And, of course, I’m not saying that because I thought anything similar. I am perfectly normal and know what a watermelon looks like.

While the photograph’s black-and-white aspect somewhat prevents it from looking appetizing, you can tell that it is one juicy watermelon. When contrasted with the cabin’s dullness and the children’s clothes, it makes for one compelling picture. I wouldn’t mind spending an afternoon with a watermelon on that porch.
