#45: Santa Claus Riding a Sidecar, Oxford Street, London, 1949

You might think this photo has some sort of strange and wonderful explanation that makes it into something other than exactly what it looks like. I’m here to tell you that is not the case. This is exactly what it looks like – Santa on a motorbike with a teddy in his sidecar, riding through London in 1949.

Even though he’s not on a reindeer-driven sleight, this Santa still manages to somehow keep a magical air about him. To be honest, I’m just relieved that the motorbike’s sidecar is being used for transporting gifts and not for other more sinister uses that jumped into my head.
