#18: Gravity
This Sandra Bullock sci-fi movie takes place mostly in outer space, which presented a challenge to the filmmakers. How can they realistically convey Sandra’s character’s journey without shooting their leading lady into deep space? Thankfully, CGI stepped in to save the film. In fact, this film pretty much revolutionized visual effects for filmmaking.

However, how did they pull off the weightlessness if they didn’t make this movie in zero gravity? The secret to making Sandra Bullock appear to be floating was wires and pulleys. The crew pulled on the wires attached to her and manipulated her, so while she wasn’t really floating, she was suspended in the air.
