#27: A Stop-Motion Nightmare

Fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas will argue over whether it’s a Halloween or Christmas movie. However, no one will dispute the fact that the movie is a true artistic feat. You’ll appreciate the film even more when you learn how much effort went into its production. All in all, the movie took over three years to complete!

The Nightmare Before Christmas took so long to create because the stop-motion movie filmed 24 frames to a second. This means that the crew had to pose the characters and figurines 24 times for each second of the movie. If you do the math, that comes out to one week per minute of filming and almost 110,000 frames in the whole movie. No wonder it took forever to make!
