Tensions and Rivalries Abounded
With Johnny Torrio at the helm of Chicago’s biggest gang and Al Capone as his right-hand man, their initial strategy was to maintain civility and cooperation with rival gangs, seeking mutual benefits. However, the allure of enormous profits led to increasing tensions and rivalries. They are mobsters, after all; peace and love weren’t in their nature.

Dean O’Banion and his North Side Gang emerged as one of their primary adversaries. To secure their position and eliminate threats, Torrio and Capone resorted to taking out O’Banion, but this decision escalated hostilities further. They became targets of multiple rival gangs as the battle for control and supremacy in the criminal underworld intensified.
