Life as an Inmate

As the rivalry between Al Capone and Joe Aiello escalated, tensions ran high, resulting in increased violence and bloodshed. Speculation circulated that Capone’s jail sentence might have been a calculated move, aimed at portraying himself as willing to pay for his misdeeds. By March 1930, Capone was a free man again, but his once-illustrious “Robin Hood” reputation was in tatters.

However, his decision to release Aiello would prove to be a costly mistake. Aiello, sensing an opportunity for revenge, hired more men to eliminate Capone. Faced with this threat, Capone took matters into his own hands. Aiello, now constantly on the run and plagued by paranoia, met his demise on October 23, 1930, unable to escape the determined Capone’s reach.
