Friend or Foe?
In the midst of a multitude of adversaries vying to bring Al Capone down, Joe Aiello emerged as a formidable foe by forging alliances with some of the most ruthless criminal figures against the Chicago Outfit. In 1927, Aiello assembled a team of hired guns and even attempted to infiltrate Capone’s inner circle, lacing one of his closest associates’ soups with prussic acid.

However, Capone’s loyal men proved steadfast, whether out of fear or genuine loyalty, making it difficult for anyone to turn against him. Ultimately, the chef of the Chicago Outfit exposed Aiello’s treacherous plot, leading Capone to retaliate with a hail of 200 bullets into Aiello’s brother’s bakery, gravely injuring the sibling in the process.
