The Imagination Library

In 1995, Dolly Parton launched the Imagination Library, a visionary program that promotes literacy by providing free books to children from birth to age five. Inspired by her father, Robert Lee Parton, who struggled with illiteracy, Dolly wanted to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, had access to books.

Starting in her hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee, the program quickly grew, and today, it sends millions of books to children worldwide. Dolly’s Imagination Library has become a cherished initiative, helping foster a love of reading in young minds and leaving a lasting impact on future generations.
