Studio 54

Studio 54 is perhaps the most well-known nightclub in the history of New York City (and we all know there’s been a lot of them). Located in Midtown Manhattan, the club started operating as a nightclub under the name Studio 54 in 1977. You could say the place launched the right place and the right time – in the peak of the disco trend.

It quickly became a second home for most of New York’s elite, meaning celebrities from the entertainment industry as well as the fashion industry, and the name Studio 54 quickly became worldwide famous, partly for the scandalous stories. Studio 54 only operated as a nightclub for 9 years and was closed in 1986, but the new owners of the place retain the legendary name. Today, it serves as a production venue for the Roundabout Theatre Company.
