St. Patrick’s Day Turns Chicago River Green
Usually, when a river changes colors it’s due to algae, or some other natural occurrence. Not the Chicago River though! Each year as a St. Patrick’s Day tradition, Chicago decides to dye their famous river green to celebrate the holiday. You might’ve seen it yourself, but seeing this from a great distance definitely makes it a sight to see.

There’s irony in the fact that Chicago’s Irish make up only 7.5% of the population, but since the Irish community and the city are about the same age, this fun little stunt is a great way to celebrate a piece of Chicago history.
