Good Riddance

“I submitted my two-week notice at my extremely understaffed job. Just six days later, I fell ill and attempted to find someone to cover my shift, but no one was available. On the morning of my shift, I tried to call in sick. My manager, however, insisted that I come in, despite the fact that I was feeling terribly unwell and couldn’t stop vomiting. I reluctantly agreed to call back later in the day to check if I felt any better.”

“When I called back, I explained that I was still sick and wouldn’t be able to make it in. My manager lost her temper and began to berate me in front of customers, displaying rude and demeaning behavior. She finally asked me what I intended to do about the shift that needed to be covered. I responded by stating that I had fulfilled my obligations and that it appeared to be a management problem. I added that she could fire me if she wished, as I was leaving in just five days anyway. Then I hung up and turned off my phone.”
