Take Employees Seriously
u/Anibunny: “I usually worked from 3 am to noon, and my sleep schedule was set from 5 pm to 1 am. However, I was assigned split shifts, which meant working from 4:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. and returning for another shift from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The continuous split shifts were taking a toll on me. Initially, I was told I’d have to do it for three days, but it extended to four days. Then, after completing the fourth shift, I was woken up by my boss calling, telling me I had to work yet another split shift.”

“I firmly declined and insisted on working my usual schedule. He began to argue and question me. Frustrated, he said, ‘But it’s your job! I’m scheduling you for another split shift.’ to which I replied, ‘Then I don’t need this job!’ He started apologizing and assured me I could get some sleep. I hung up. I showed up the next day and I worked my regular shift, and when my boss arrived at 8 a.m., he immediately started apologizing. He even admitted, ‘If working a split shift was so hard on you, you could have told me no!'”
