Stop Micromanaging
u/sonofabunch: “I had a stint at Radioshack where I frequently clashed with our District Manager. He was adamant about implementing these absurd sales techniques that might have been suitable for a big city but felt overly aggressive for our small town. The year he assumed the role of our District Manager, I won a company-wide contest for the best salesman, surpassing approximately 14,000 employees. What made it noteworthy was that I achieved this without resorting to pushy tactics or forcing products onto customers.”

“Despite my accomplishments, he continued to pressure me to adopt these unreasonable techniques every month during his visits. However, after winning the contest, I stopped mincing words and straightforwardly told him, ‘That’s nonsensical, and I’m not going to approach it that way.’ Each time, he threatened to have me terminated, but nothing ever materialized from those threats. Makes you wonder why.”
