Treat Your Workers Fairly
u/WrestleCuck shared, “For the past few years, I’ve been employed at one of the ‘nicer’ restaurants in my small beach town. Among the servers there, I’m one of the few who genuinely cares about providing excellent service, and I’m the only one who doesn’t take frequent smoke breaks. During this past summer, a new rule was introduced, one that was quite illegal. It stated that if we made any mistakes with an order, we would be held financially responsible for the erroneous food. I didn’t make mistakes, and I was content with my income and didn’t want to create unnecessary conflicts.”

“However, my perspective shifted when I accidentally rang in a ‘Cherry-Glazed Burger’ instead of a ‘Cherry-Glazed Steak.’ I promptly addressed the issue with the kitchen, but by then, they had already started preparing the burger. I informed my manager, and to my dismay, she reiterated that ‘rules are rules.’ This compelled me to delve into federal and state workers’ rights regulations. I made it abundantly clear to her that she would never see me again if I found any deductions from my tips at the end of the night. After that incident, I never encountered any problems when it came to rectifying order errors.”
