#8: Wentworth Miller
Year They Came Out of the Closet: 2013
Wentworth Miller, originally from British Columbia and now residing in Canada, denied being gay in a 2007 InStyle interview, choosing to live a closeted life for many years. His brave moment came in August 2013 when he publicly came out by declining an invitation to the Saint Petersburg International Film Festival, citing concerns over Russia’s treatment of its LGBTQ+ community.

Speaking at the 2013 Human Rights Campaign Dinner in Seattle, Miller revealed his harrowing struggle with depression and multiple suicide attempts during his youth. His involvement in the ManKind Project later helped him find community and acceptance. Today, Miller embraces his truth openly, sharing his journey.
