Known for his charm and classic roles, Grant married five times, first to Virginia Cherrill in 1934 at London’s Caxton Hall. Their marriage ended in 1935 amidst accusations of physical altercations.

Post-divorce, he dated actress Phyllis Brooks in 1937. Despite his public romances, Grant faced persistent rumors about his sexuality, with close friends alleging a relationship with fellow actor Randolph Scott. Yet, his daughter Jennifer refuted these claims, stating, “I saw a very straight male who watched women, was married to women, had me.”
