#16: Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars
Give Coldplay credit—most bands, if asked to open for Beyoncé, would have suddenly developed a mysterious flu. (Honestly, even the flu might have been more exciting than Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” detour.) Chris Martin and company gave “Viva La Vida” their best shot, but let’s be real: the night belonged to Beyoncé.

She debuted “Formation” in full world-dominating mode, with her dancers channeling Black Panther energy, commanding the stage in just two electrifying minutes. That brief glimpse of “Formation” was all it took to overshadow everything else, proving once again that Beyoncé doesn’t do opening acts—she is the main event.
