#8: The Republic of Molossia
Would you believe it if we told you there is an independent micro-nation in the middle of Nevada? The Republic of Molossia spans 11.3 acres near Dayton, Nevada. This small nation has its own passport stamp, and you have to go through customs to enter. This oddity was officially founded and proclaimed by Kevin Baugh in 1998 when he purchased land in Nevada.

The Republic of Molossia began as Baugh’s teenage dream and eventually became a reality. You can visit Molossia, but you need to make a reservation ahead of time. According to Molossia’s official website, the nation has 39 citizens (including 4 dogs), and is ruled by “His Excellency, President Kevin Baugh.” There are no elections. However, there is an official drink made of Sprite, grenadine, and pineapple juice, which sounds delightful.
