#26: The “Euthanasia Coaster”

This weird fact is pretty dark. This grainy image is a hypothetical model of something called the “Euthanasia Coaster.” It’s a rollercoaster design that is intended to kill its passengers, hence the name. Thankfully, it doesn’t exist in real life. It’s a thought experiment created by artist Julijonas Urbonas in 2010. 

This rollercoaster is designed with a dramatic drop at the beginning, followed by consecutive inversion loops. The speed and force of this coaster would kill anyone on board. It’s pretty dark stuff that sounds straight out of a horror movie. We sure hope this thing never gets built in the real world and remains an interesting philosophical thought experiment.
